Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by greasing and flouring it or lining it with parchment paper.

Making the Batter

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in mashed bananas and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. If desired, fold in chocolate chips or walnuts.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the brownies cool in the pan on a wire rack.

Frosting

  • Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat until light golden brown.
  • Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  • Once the brownies are completely cool, spread the frosting over the top and cut into squares.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different chocolate types or add toppings like sea salt or peanut butter swirls for extra flavor. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate to extend shelf life.
