Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  • Mash the ripe bananas in a mixing bowl with melted butter until mostly smooth.
  • Stir in the granulated sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
  • Sprinkle in the baking soda and salt, and mix gently to combine.
  • Fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined.
  • Gently mix in the chopped walnuts and bourbon until incorporated.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan, smoothing the top.
  • Bake for 60 to 70 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes and then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use overripe bananas for the best sweetness. You can also experiment with different nuts like pecans or chocolate chips. Allow the bread to cool for easier slicing, and consider freezing for long-term storage.
