Preparation

  • Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it turns golden brown.
  • Combine granulated sugar and brown sugar in a mixing bowl. Pour the melted butter over the sugars and mix until creamy.
  • Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well. Add vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Scoop portions of dough onto the sheets, leaving enough space for spreading.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden.
  • Cool on a wire rack.

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake them. You can substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend for a gluten-free version.
