Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius) and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with foil.
  • Arrange a single layer of Saltine crackers at the base of the lined pan.

Cooking

  • In a saucepan, combine the unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a rolling boil.
  • Once boiling, let it cook without stirring for 3 minutes to allow it to caramelize.
  • Pour the caramelized mixture over the arranged Saltine crackers, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 7 minutes to set the toffee on the crackers.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee-coated crackers, allowing the heat to melt the chocolate.
  • Once melted, spread the chocolate evenly across the surface and add any optional toppings if desired.
  • Refrigerate for about an hour until set, then break into pieces and enjoy.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. For longer storage, consider freezing.
