For the cookie dough

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour Structure
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder Light lift
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Flavor balance

For the topping

  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar Sweetness
  • 1/4 cup Corn syrup Sweetness, binding agent
  • 1/4 cup Heavy cream Creaminess

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the chopped pecans gently.

Baking

  • Roll the dough into balls (1 inch in diameter) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, corn syrup, and cream over medium heat until bubbly. Spoon the mixture over each cookie.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature ingredients. Optionally, you can toast the pecans for enhanced flavor or add chocolate chips for variation.
