  • 4-5 cups Fresh Peaches, peeled and sliced You can substitute with canned or frozen peaches.

Batter

  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar Balances sweetness of peaches.
  • 1 cup Flour Forms the base of the batter.
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder Leavening agent for a fluffy texture.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavors.
  • 1 cup Milk Adds moisture.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Deepens flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted Creates a crispy texture.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Peel and slice the fresh peaches into manageable pieces. If using canned or frozen peaches, drain well and ensure they are adequately thawed.
  • Toss peach slices with 1/4 cup sugar and cornstarch in a bowl and set aside.

Batter Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C).
  • In a baking dish, place 1/2 cup of butter and melt it in the preheating oven.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix well.
  • Gradually add 1 cup of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir gently until combined.

Assembling and Baking

  • Pour the batter over the melted butter, do not stir.
  • Layer the peach mixture over the top of the batter, juices included.
  • Bake for about 1 hour until the crust is golden brown. If using a metal pan, check at 30-40 minutes.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Cool for at least 15 minutes before serving to allow juices to thicken.
