Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Peel and mash the ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  • Add melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  • Stir in the baking soda and salt until combined.
  • Mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Gradually fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined, being careful not to over-mix.
  • If desired, fold in walnuts or chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan, smoothing the top.
  • Bake for about 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

Use heavily speckled brown bananas for the best sweetness. This banana bread can be stored wrapped at room temperature for up to three days or frozen for longer preservation.
