Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef Primary protein source
  • 1 cup cooked rice Preferably white or Mexican rice
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or a cheese blend
  • ½ cup taco sauce For flavor enhancement
  • 4 large flour tortillas To wrap all ingredients

Fresh Toppings

  • ½ cup chopped onions For crunch and flavor
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes To add freshness
  • ½ cup shredded lettuce For light texture

Seasonings and Oils

  • 1 tbsp olive oil For cooking beef
  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning For flavoring the beef
  • to taste salt and pepper To adjust flavors

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, pour in a drizzle of olive oil. Once the oil shimmers, add the ground beef, breaking it apart. Season generously with taco seasoning, salt, and pepper. Sauté until browned and fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, cook rice according to package directions until light and fluffy, typically around 18-20 minutes. Warm gently once cooked.

Combining Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine cooked beef, warm rice, half of the shredded cheese, and taco sauce. Mix well until evenly distributed.

Assembling Burritos

  • Warm tortillas in a skillet for about 20-30 seconds each side. Lay a tortilla flat, add a generous amount of the beef and rice mixture down the center, and sprinkle chopped onions, diced tomatoes, and remaining cheese.
  • Fold the sides of the tortilla in and roll tightly from the bottom to secure the filling. For a crispy burrito, grill in a skillet for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden.

Serving

  • Serve the burritos warm with additional taco sauce or sour cream on the side.

Notes

Consider marinating meat with taco seasoning for deeper flavor. Feel free to substitute ground beef with alternatives like shredded chicken or black beans.
