Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together melted butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the mashed bananas, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet banana mixture, stirring just until combined.
  • Gently fold in the sour cream or buttermilk until mixed.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let the loaf cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.

Notes

You can personalize your banana bread by adding nuts, chocolate chips, or dried fruits. Store the bread wrapped in plastic wrap or foil to keep it fresh for up to 3-4 days.
