Ingredients
  

Macaron Shells

  • 1 cup Almond flour Base ingredient, provides nutty flavor
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar Adds sweetness and smooth texture
  • 3 large Egg whites Provides structure and stability
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar Sweetens and supports meringue
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cream of tartar Stabilizes meringue, enhances structure
  • Food coloring For a festive appearance

Filling

  • 1/2 cup Butter Richness in fillings
  • 2 cups Confectioner’s sugar Sweetness in buttercream
  • 1 teaspoon Flavor extract Enhances overall taste
  • 1 bean Vanilla bean or seeds Aroma and flavor depth

Royal Icing

  • 1 cup Powdered sugar For decorating the macarons
  • 1 large Egg white Base for the royal icing
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice Adds acidity and flavor

Instructions
 

Preparation of Macaron Shells

  • Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar and set aside.
  • Whip egg whites on medium speed until frothy, then gradually add granulated sugar and continue whisking until soft peaks form. Add cream of tartar and whisk until stiff peaks are achieved.
  • Fold the sifted almond flour mixture into the whipped egg whites gently, and add food coloring until desired color is achieved.
  • Pipe small circles of batter onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and let rest for 30 minutes.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until firm to the touch, then cool on a wire rack.

Decorating and Filling

  • Prepare royal icing and decorate cooled macaron shells with festive designs.
  • Make sugar cookie buttercream by creaming butter and gradually adding confectioner’s sugar until fluffy, adding flavor extracts to taste.
  • Pipe buttercream on the flat side of one macaron shell and top with another shell to create a sandwich.

Notes

Store macarons in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For best flavor, let settle overnight before serving. Avoid using the microwave to reheat.
