Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and prepare them for cooking. Finely chop the onion, garlic, and ginger, and shred the cabbage.

Cooking

  • Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add vegetable oil and allow it to shimmer.
  • Add the ground beef, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Brown for about five minutes, then drain any excess fat.
  • Push the beef to one side of the skillet. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger to the empty space and sauté for about two minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cabbage wilts but retains some crunch.
  • Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Stir well to combine and coat everything in the sauces. Season with red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Serve the stir fry over rice or on its own, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

For added texture, consider including bell peppers, carrots, or snap peas. This dish is easily customizable to suit your preferences, and it can also be made with turkey or tofu for different dietary needs.
