  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce

For the Wrapping

  • 8-10 pieces rice paper wrappers Easily found in most grocery stores.

For the Crunch

  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers (red, green, or yellow)

Preparation

  • Begin by heating a skillet over medium heat. Pour in some oil and sauté minced garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  • Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart. Season with soy sauce, fish sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned, then stir in fresh Thai basil until wilted.
  • While the beef mixture cools, prepare rice paper wrappers by soaking them in warm water for 15-20 seconds until pliable.

Rolling

  • On each rice paper wrapper, spoon a portion of the beef and vegetable mixture. Add shredded carrots and sliced bell peppers. Fold in the sides and roll tightly.
  • Serve immediately with lime wedges.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. If desired, add additional veggies for crunch, such as cucumbers or lettuce. For a spicy kick, consider adding jalapeño slices or sriracha.
