Ingredients

For the Shawarma

  • 1 pound Chicken or beef for shawarma
  • 1 tsp Garlic
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 4 pieces Pita bread
  • 1 cup Garlic sauce
  • 1 cup Pickles

For the Stuffed Dates

  • 10 pieces Dates
  • 1/2 cup Almonds
  • 1/2 cup Walnuts
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp Sugar or honey

Instructions

Preparation

  • Marinate your choice of meat (chicken or beef) with garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, olive oil, salt, and pepper for several hours.
  • Pit the dates and chop the almonds and walnuts for the stuffed dates. Mix in cinnamon.
  • Stuff each date with the nut mixture.

Cooking

  • Grill or roast the marinated shawarma for 15-20 minutes until cooked through, flipping halfway.
  • Warm the pita bread and slice the cooked meat before assembling.

Serving

  • Layer the shawarma in warm pita bread with garlic sauce, pickles, and any fresh herbs.
  • Serve the stuffed dates alongside as a sweet dish.

Notes

Marinate overnight for maximum flavor. Adjust the nut mixture for stuffed dates according to your preference. Leftover shawarma tastes even better the next day.
