  • 1 medium Yellow Onion Diced for added sweetness.

  • 8 oz Mushrooms Sliced, such as cremini or button.
  • 2 tbsp Flour For thickening the sauce.
  • 2 cups Beef Broth Liquid base for the sauce.
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce Adds tangy umami flavor.
  • 1 cup Sour Cream Essential for the creamy texture.
  • to taste Salt and Pepper For seasoning.

Instructions
 

Cooking the Beef

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and brown for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.

Adding Aromatics

  • Add the diced onion to the skillet, cooking for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

Incorporating Mushrooms

  • Mix in the sliced mushrooms and sauté for 5-7 minutes until they are tender.

Thickening the Sauce

  • Sprinkle the flour over the mixture, stir well, and cook for a minute. Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring. Add Worcestershire sauce and let it simmer until thickened.

Finishing Touches

  • Reduce heat to low, stir in sour cream, and season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use coconut cream or dairy-free yogurt. Feel free to experiment with different herbs and spices!
