Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt.
  • Squeeze the juice of two limes into the mixture and whisk to combine.

Marinating the Steak

  • Add the flank or skirt steak to the marinade, making sure it is fully coated.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes; up to an hour is recommended.

Prepping the Toppings

  • Dice the yellow onion and chop fresh cilantro.
  • Slice avocados into wedges or cubes.

Cooking the Steak

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat for about 3–4 minutes.
  • Add the marinated steak, cooking for 4-5 minutes on each side until desired doneness is achieved.
  • Remove from skillet and let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.

Assembling Tacos

  • Warm the tortillas in the skillet for about 30 seconds on each side.
  • Layer slices of steak on each tortilla and top with onions, avocado, and cilantro.
  • Squeeze lime wedges over the tacos and serve immediately.
